(Re)Thinking Localization: In Word and in Spirit

Localization has been s a buzzword in the development sector, yet the gap between rhetoric and reality remains wide.
While donors push for local leadership and institutions seek greater ownership, systemic barriers persist. This session
explores how INGOs, large contractors, and funding structures shape—or hinder—localization and invites all participating
stakeholders to reflect on what must change to make it a reality.

Speakers:
Nirjan Rai - Advisor, Policy Entrepreneurs Inc.
Pippa Bird - Deputy Ambassador and Development Director, FCDO
Megan Nalbo - Country Representative, The Asia Foundation
